I learned that the cab drivers in the U.S has many different kinds, for example the full-time, part-time, weekend or evening etc. I don't know this before. Secondly, many taxi drivers have higher eduction like high school diploma.
For taxi drivers they might have different kinds as a taxi driver as you mentioned full-time, part-time even weekend or evenings. As for that they might be having different jobs for the mornings, evenings, or even nights to hep support their families, kids to be healthy and try to cover all the expenses needed for the house. Sometimes they would have to work whether in a bar or a supermarket. I can find it really helpful but of course it might be very tiring and exhausting finding no time to be spent with their families just to cover the expenses.
