1. What examples of American culture did you see in the movie X-Men? Were any of these examples that you have also seen in other movies/TV shows this semester? How does the American culture shown in X-Men compare to the American culture shown in the other movies/TV we've watched?
2. Professor X, leader of the X-Men, and Magneto, leader of the Brotherhood, have two very different views about whether it is possible for mutants and human beings to peacefully coexist. In your opinion, which view is correct? Why? If you were a mutant living in the world shown in the movie X-Men, how would you feel about human beings? What would you do?
Thanks everyone! I am sorry I could not be there for the conclusion of the movie - but I am especially looking forward to reading what you write!!
X-man is one of my favor movie, because the plot and the computer animation are perfect. In my opinion, justice beat evil is one of the American culture. In this movie, evil are more powerful than justice, but X men are working together to beat the evil and finally they win. This culture also showed in the movie Collateral, in this movie, screenwriter shows this by the death of Vincent in metro. the Another American culture I saw in the movie is America always being the leader of the whole world which means American leader ask every country's president to come here to have a secret meeting about the global problems. In this movie, people come to New York City to discuss the treatment of mutants. In addition, I think there is some possibilities that mutants and human exist peacefully, because mutants are human, they has good soul as good man, and some mutants are bad just like some human are bad, so that there should be another system for mutant's world in order to keep the balance. So, I think Professor X, leader of the X-Men are correct. If i'm a mutant I will feel sorry for human, because human being look like more weak than mutants and they are helpless. When a mutant fight with a human being, there is almost no doubt that mutant will win. But, if I can really be a mutant, I will envy human being because they have normal life, and I think people notice the things they were having are precious after they lose which means if I really be a mutant, I will hope I can get my life back before I mess up every thing.
ReplyDeletein X-man i saw human always want to control they think good things for them. like in movie there have a lots of mutant. stronger than their ability to many normal people, so normal people want to control them. so normal people to their numbers in an attempt to control them, but without success. the final result will be beyond the imagination of normal people. same thing happened in x-file “eve”. government wants to create a super human, and then control them to fight, without success. Super human growth will become madness, become not control. in X-man i think same thing like other movie i saw is justice always triumphs over evil. no matter how the final film in the United States movies are always good people to win and bad guys get punished. the movie Collateral in the end the bad guy Vincent died and Max saved annie. alao the movie Beverly Hills Cop exel killed bed man Victor. so good guys always win. i think mutant and normal people can peaceful coexistence. becouse i think they are all human. jsut some have some different. if they use thier power to help society built. that very good. if i am mutant, i will live just like normal people. use my power to help them. i think they will be happy make friend with me.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie X-men, the most obvious American culture that I have found out is the Bar which is the one that when Logan and Marie met each other and Marie screamed out " Look out!" to Logan. I think bars could be one of the American culture because there are many bars on the streets of the United States, moreover, many American people love to go to bars nomatter where in or which country they stay for vacation. In addition, bar has also showed up in the movie, Collateral. It showed up in the scene when Victor and Max went to see a Jazz mucisian in the Jazz bar. However, they still have a little different in some ways. In the X-men, the bar was not that clean, and the light was also dark, and the most different is that the bar was located at a weird place that seemed like only outlaws or workers over there would go. The bar in Collateral was very clean and it was a Jazz music bar. and the location was in LA.
ReplyDeleteIn the X-men,Professor X and Magneto have vary opinion about the coexisting with normal human. In my opinion, the mutants and human are able to coexist because the mutants in X-men are just like normal human beings if they don't use their superpower. Moreover, mutants might need to go to different schools like the one in the movie, but in their personal lives, I think they are able to live together with normal human. If I am a mutant living in the world like the one in the movie, I would think that human beings are pretty stupid because I am also a human being, however, it is just not normal as others, in the appearance, Im still a normal person. Perhaps, I might be able to help in the Army also.
I think american like superpower, like control weather, read others' mind and control people to do things. The plot always relate to superpower or E.T. The same as the x-file, also, it talks about something that science can not explain. The movies always have hero and brotherwood. The bad guy do everything to destroy and kill people, then the hero will make the great effort to save them. At the end of the movie, the bad guy dies, and the hero win all priaze. It is the happy ending. I think x-man is similar to the x-file. Both of them are about something unknown or something beyond human's ability. But x-man is more connection and it is a story. x-file seems like a logical explaination. It is more professional and it is more serious. I think it is possible for mutants and human beings to peacefully coexist. The mutants also have psycical appearence and body. The only thing that they are different is they have superpower. If they can control and make good use of their power, it is esay for them to get well with human. Mutants and human being are almost the same. The most important for mutants is to control their superpower. If I am a mutant, at the beginning, maybe I feel depress and confuse. But I think I will not use the superpower to do something harmful to others. I will use it to help people who are in trouble, or maybe I will choose to hide my superpower that I am exactly same as the human being, and I can be a normal person.
ReplyDeleteIn x-man, one of the american culture I can see is american like the ability that they can change and control weather, the same as a movie I saw before. Alao, most of the movies reflect the big events or situation at that time. We can see people have a important meeting near the Statue of Liberty. Also, Statue of Liberty
ReplyDeleteis the symnol of United State. Then in the graduate, it also shows us the culture of government at the period. They was busy in preparing the war and unemployment increased. In my opinion, american movies are lead by life, on the opposite, movies affect life. Like x-file that we watched before, I think it is influenced by the thought of people at that time, because people were afraid of some diseases and strange, so they write their fear into movie.
I believe mutants and human being are possible to peacefully coexist. Actually, there is less difference between mutants and human being. Mutants have superpower, but if they do not use the power, they are the same as the human being. In addition, mutants also have emotion, feeling, even they can be hurt and they will die. So I think human being and mutants can get on well with each other. If I am a mutants, I will make good use of my superpower, like doing something I can not do before, doing something are good for myself, getting everything I want and so on. Maybe I will help some people I like to help. And I think human being is very different from me.
X-MEN is a great movie, I am really like it. The American culture of this movie is showing the government of American, they do many things under people’s knowing. And it’s showing the good side of American government, they would like to tell something to public, like there are a lot of mutants around us. And the story make in the Statue of Liberty is showing the sign of American Culture too. I have seen many movies are about the government with some secrets and so some actions. This movie is showing the science fiction, American is really good of this kind of movie. And for the world, America is the biggest country, it most nearly the science in the movie. In other country, it just shows other side of American Culture, like thought and behavior.
ReplyDeleteThe Professor X is correct, because I think every living biologist should got along with each other. And I am always be a side of peace, and oppose make a war to solve problems, because it not hurt the people who bad, it also hurt the normal people. If I am a mutant in this movie, I think might afraid likes what did storm said. Because they maybe will kill me, hurt me, take me to experimentalism, or lock me in the jail. I think I want to follow the professor X, because he understand me, teach me, give me a purpose to live, it is save the world and keep a good relationship with human being.
